On Saturday July 11th, roads around the Greenwich Peninsula (near the 02 arena & around the Emirates cable car) were closed off for a cycle race. Though this wasn’t an ordinary bike race. This was the Red Hook Crit, a fixed gear criterium started a few years with a few friends racing each other through the streets of Brooklyn New York. The event has grown in stature & popularity over the years & made it’s first visit to the UK for this event. The crit also travels to Barcelona & Milan later in the year.
I have followed the event through images & videos on social media & cycling sites over the last year or so. When I heard about the London round of the series, I had to come down to have a look.
The Red Hook Crit schedule was split into two main phases for the day, qualifying sessions (from 1pm-6pm) & then the Mens & Womens criterium races.
Below is a selection of images taken at the event.
