One the morning of May 20th 2012, the Olympic torch set off from Plymouth on it’s second day touring around the country through to July 27th where it will reach the Olympic stadium in London, for the opening ceremony and lighting of the Olympic cauldron. Day 2 of the route would travel through Devon and end up early in the evening in Exeter, outside the cathedral. This is where I went to capture the atmosphere in the city and of course, try to capture a glimpse of the torch itself.
In this post, are a series of photos I took on the day both using my digital slr camera and my phone camera too.
The torch then carried on towards the Cathedral where it was lit in a mini cauldron on the stage where Labrinth, Show of hands & Twist and Pulse performed for lucky ticket holders.
Overall, it was a great show put on in Exeter and the weather was great along with a festival atmosphere around the city.
I will try to photograph the torch twice more. First on July 12th in Lyme Regis, Dorset and then finally early in the morning on the final day, July 27th at Hampton Court Palace. Images will be posted here.
